Interactive Animation System

Interactive CG Animation Production Environments Based on IntelligentBox

By combining several particular components, e.g., CameraBox, VCRBox, it is possible to build a Virtual Studio in which users make CG animations in the same manner as taking real-image videos in the real world.

With IntelligentBox, it is possible to develop interactive 3D graphics applications like e-learning systems.

3D Scene Generation System (Yoshiaki Akazawa, et al.)

To develop 3D graphics applications, we have to prepare 3D scenes by laying 3D objects out manually. This is a time consuming task. So, we have been studying a 3D CG scene generation system based on contact constraints.

Polygonal Model Processing (Hussain Muhammad, et al.)

Real-time applications need the LOD control of polygonal models to reduce the processing time necessary for rendering them.

3D Multimedia Data (3D Multimedia Contents) Retrieval (Naoto Nakamura, Hiroaki Etoh, Keitaro Kaku, et al.)

Recently, a lot of 3D multimedia data have been created and stored because of the great demand of 3D CG and CG animations in various application fields, Movie/Film productions, Video Game productions. In this situation, we need any tool that help us to find and search our required 3D multimedia data easily and accurately. So, we have been studying a 3D multimedia data (3D multimedia contents) search/retrieval system.

(1) Polygonal model database

(2) Motion database

(3) Motion data/Polygonal model data retrieval system using Interactive Evolutionary Computation based on GA (Seiji Okajima, et. al.)

Using IEC(Interactive Evolutionary Computation) based on GA, we have been developing 3D multimedia data retrieval systems that can show data similar to user-required data by the simple evaluation like giving a higher score to data similar to user-required data.

We have already developed motion retrieval system and polygonal model data retrieval system.

Motion generation system by intuitive operations (Shunji Yokomizo, Koji Chado, et al.)

Besides real-time animations are possible using a magnetic-based full-body motion capture system, we have been studying a real-time motion generation system that allows us to generate motion data based on puppet/marionette metaphor by our hand gestures using the pair of a data glove and one motion sensor or two analog joysticks as input devices.

Demo movie: Real-time motion generation using MotionStar.

Demo movie: Real-time motion generation using DataGlove.

Demo movie: Real-time motion generation using JoySticks.

3D CG Animation Generation by Scripting (Takuya Yoshiyama, et al.)

We have been developing a TVML (TV Making Language ) Player, which is proposed by NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), as a particular component of IntelligentBox.
